Life after 50: My Digital Nomad Adventure

I just did something kind of big…I sold everything I own except for what I could fit in my carry-on roller bag and a backpack.  Why?  Because I’m becoming a digital nomad.  

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, but was afraid to take the plunge.  Since the fall before I turned 50, I’ve been really reflecting on my life.  When I asked myself if there was anything I wished I would have done, I came up with two responses - travel and write.  That led me to a four month trip to Europe to celebrate turning 50.  I visited 8 countries all by myself and had an AMAZING time.  There are so many positives to traveling solo!  Of course you can get a little lonely, but if that happens you go out and make new friends.  

That was two years ago.  Last year I decided to explore the western United States.  I had only really been to a few states out here (I’m living in California).  Once I went to Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, I realized I didn’t have many states left before I would have visited all 50.  So I hit the road again!  As of today I have been to 49 states and am looking forward to visiting Alaska sometime soon.

After all of this travel and the political chaos that our country is going through, I decided that this is the perfect time to explore and live a life that I’ve dreamt of for the last 10 years.  Let me just say here that you may have heard me say before that I lived in my dream place or went on my dream trip and I just want to clarify that I have A LOT OF DREAMS.  So yes, I lived in Malibu and spent a month in Paris and it was amazing, but I am not the type of person to stay in one place.  There are too many places to see and things to do!  My goal is to live ALL of my dreams in this lifetime.  Okay, maybe I won’t be a famous rockstar, I think that ship has sailed, but all of the other dreams. 🙂

That leads me to the purpose of this blog.  I hope you will decide to go after your dreams too.  ALL OF THEM.  This is YOUR LIFE, please please live it.  All of these things you imagine doing, there is a reason you are dreaming about them.  These are the things that will fill your heart with joy.  AND YOU DESERVE THAT!  Doing what you dream of is the ultimate way to love yourself.  And this life is all about love.  When we love ourselves, everything gets better.  And by loving yourself, you’ll inspire others to love themselves and live their dreams too.♥️
